信宁社区属汕头市澄海区凤翔街道，在澄海城区东部，是革命老区。[3]传说这里原是荒埔，澄海建县时有十八户（十七姓）来定居，寓意相信能在此安居、永享安宁，因而叫信宁。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

此地原属海阳县下外莆都辟望，澄海建县后改隶澄海县。[2]1935年起与昆美合称宁美乡；1946年成为宁美村，同东湖、外埔、港口并为秀水乡，1949年自秀水乡分出。[2]1956年至1957年，宁美与外埔、港口、东湖共组信宁乡；1961年与昆美分开，自立生产大队。[2]随后经居委会（1986年）、街道（1996年）到社区（2002年）。[2]

人口与经济[edit]

据博雅地名网，社区有1181户，4764人，分11个居民小组。[3]毛织服装和工艺玩具是主要行业，是澄海这两类产品的主要产地，企业三百多家，2009年工业产值18亿元，集体经济收入129万元。[3]

文化[edit]

社区有信宁小学和郁联图书馆，馆藏三万册，据称是澄海乡村图书馆里最多的。[3]国家民政部曾授予它「全国模范村民委员会」称号。[3]
