新桥村在练江边、北港溪北岸、灵山脚下，因旧时村被绿水环绕、村南建桥而名，是铜盂镇侨乡之一。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明洪武年间（1368—1398）先人到此立村，即名新桥。1958年分为新联、新光两村，1968年又合并，称新桥农业生产大队；1984年改为乡，1986年改设村委会。[1]

人口经济[edit]

5984人（1072户），耕地1695亩，另有山地67.5亩；海外华侨和港澳台同胞1800人，侨胞与村人集资办学校、修道路。[1]

2020年8月，新桥村入选首批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村（水稻）；2020至2022年连续列入「淘宝村」名单。[1]
