老溪西社区在练江中游北岸，铜贵公路穿过，属铜盂镇镇区，名称因位于土尾潭西岸、建村更早而来。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
明洪武年间（1368—1398），先人到此建村，称溪西村；1950年称和西村，1958年起为溪西乡，1968年设大队，1986年成为村委会，1999年改居委会，沿用至今。[1]
经济人口[edit]
社区有6028人（1085户），耕地1200亩，主种水稻、甘薯。改革开放后，个体私营企业发展，经营文具、铝制品、五金、塑料等，规模较大的有文具和内衣两家公司。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
西湖祖祠在社区内蔡厝厅村寨中街，建于明代，2010年3月22日公布为汕头市文物保护单位。[1]
2019年9月，社区列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位；2023年4月，进入2022年度广东省乡村治理示范村的创建名单。[1]
