河东社区在汕头市濠江区河浦街道，濠江西岸，是原河浦村落的东部。据博雅地名网，村子建于南宋嘉定年间（1208—1224年），街道办事处就设在这里。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

河浦村最初称濠浦，后改称河浦。1954年农业合作化时，河浦村分成河东、河南、河北三个农业社；1959年河浦公社下设河南、河东、河北三乡，1961年各并为生产大队。1983年12月称河东大队，1986年撤销大队，设河东居委会。[2]

1994年河东居委会归新设的三河街道管辖，2004年三河街道更名为河浦街道，河东随之归河浦街道。社区名称来自它在原河浦乡的东部。[2][3]

地理环境[edit]

河浦大道从村东经过，村落从南到北呈长方形，南接河南社区，北邻河北社区。住宅多为混凝土平房，也有部分贝灰泥木结构平房。社区有山林7530亩，种荔枝、柑橘等；耕地1570亩，种水稻、甘薯、甘蔗、花生、大豆；境内有蓄水88万立方米的铁鸟坑水库。[1]

经济[edit]

社区有海水养殖场养殖虾蟹，水塘养牛蛙，另有家禽养殖场；主要企业包括液化气公司、加油站和数家石场，居民收入还靠家庭作坊。社区现有中学1所、小学1所、幼儿园2所。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

社区内有汕头市文物保护点「宋代潮州刺史陈憺墓」。[1]
