南山是汕头市濠江区马滘街道下辖的社区居委会，濒临南海，由大村、围仔、妈宫、尾村四个自然村组成，以渔业为主。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网所载，村落初名“南沙”，因所在的海湾沙滩而得名；后因大村西南约65米的海滩上有一座虎仔山，改称南山。明正德年间（1506—1521年），先后有人来此捕鱼定居，形成妈宫、大村、围仔、尾村4个村落。[1][2]1949年称南山乡，属达濠镇；1958年改设南山公社，属红旗公社；1959年设南山大队，属达濠渔业公社；1975年归汕头市郊区达濠公社；1980年属达濠镇。[1]

清代河西盐场辖马滘、北口、南山三个盐厂。[3]

经济[edit]

社区共886户、4320人，耕地720市亩，林地473亩，大体是防护林带。渔业是主要产业，共有机动捕捞船288艘；集体经济薄弱，历来年收入在3万元以下。[2]2017年10月，社区被广东省爱国卫生运动委员会授予第一批广东省卫生村称号。[1]
