历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网所载，社区名取南海之滨、期盼光明之意。[1]1979年9月，汕头市郊革委会批准把原马滘盐业大队分为海光、海星、海明三个大队；1980年归达濠镇，1984年改称海光村委会，1999年6月再改为居委会。[1]
经济[edit]
社区占地约0.60平方公里，有727户、2804人。第一产业为盐业，盐田共2500公亩，后因盐田荒废，经上级批准转产；堤围全长2324米，另有鱼塘3口约60亩、鱼塭3口约30亩。居民约九成的收入来自外出务工；集体收入每年约16万元，主要来自出租2700平方米厂房。[2]2026年3月，社区被认定为「广东省第三批“百千万工程”典型村镇」。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
渡江亭在大众路上段，属清代古建筑，2014年10月10日列为汕头市文物保护单位。[1]
