新垦社区位于广州市南沙区万顷沙镇，镇政府所在的育才路一带属其辖区，2002年新垦镇并入万顷沙镇时设立居民委员会。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
新垦的行政建制始于1972年7月：当年设新垦区政府，十月改称新垦公社。迁来围垦的8个渔业大队后来调整成5个，各自在垦区安顿成自然村，到1980年建村。[1]
此后区公所在1986年改为新垦镇，镇于2002年并入万顷沙镇，社区居民委员会也在那一年设立；2005年10月，社区连同全镇改属南沙区。[1]
地名来自辖地的开发：这片土地在1963年之后才新围垦出来，故称「新垦」。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2021年11月，获广州市住房和城乡建设局确定为广州市2021年绿色社区；2022年10月，经广东省农业农村厅认定为广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村（南沙青蟹）；2024年11月，获「2024年广州市充分就业社区（村）」认定。[1]
