岭背村位于镇域西南部，与永定区交界，是九龙江的源头所在。村子距203省道和永莆高速入口约6千米。[1]

地名由来[edit]

从红坊进入村庄，需要翻过一座山岭，村庄位于山岭的背后，村名由此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据载，村民在清代以前由上杭迁入。原称岭背保，解放后属黄岗乡的岭背村。[1]

1958年公社化时设岭背大队，1960年并入邻近的大队，1961年分出，1984年改设岭背村委会。[1]
