田头村是炉下镇下辖的行政村，村中多见洋面田，早先名阡头，后改为现名。全村设4个村民小组，下辖田头和连庄两个自然村。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村中多见洋面田，原来叫做阡头，后来改称田头。此说依据《1993年南平市志·地名志》。[1]

人口与面积[edit]

2011年末，辖区总人口1376人，其中常住1166人、流动210人，全部为汉族。全村面积9.73平方千米，陆地9.55平方千米，水域0.18平方千米。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

明代此地属杜溪里，清代沿袭。1934年隶属南平县第六区炉溪乡，1943年改属炉湄乡并设田头保，1949年归炉下乡。1958年编入东方红（夏道）人民公社，设田头大队；1961年归炉下公社，1984年改设田头村民委员会，1995年炉下乡改镇时随之归属。[1]
