西边村位于九龙江北溪北港出海口，在镇境东南部，南临九龙江，北与桥头村的桥头社接壤。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村子在壶屿桥头的西侧，故名西边。壶屿原是九龙江出海口的一座小屿，外形像壶。[1]

沿革[edit]

1951年归第七区石美乡管辖；1958年角美设胜利公社，本村为其中的联合连；1959年归角美人民公社，编为西边大队；1984年起称龙海县角美镇西边村；1993年又归龙海市管辖。[2]
