东村是尤溪县西城镇下辖的行政村，位于镇区西北部，距镇政府约13千米。[2]

地名由来[edit]

村名因村子位于湆头溪东岸而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国前属尤溪县五都，民国初期设东村保。1949年解放后隶城关区东后乡，1955年改隶东村乡。1958年一度撤乡，改设人民公社，归城关（红旗）人民公社管辖；1968年改隶团结人民公社；1984年改为乡镇，隶团结乡。1995年团结乡改制为西城镇，东村的隶属关系并未改变。[1]

著名人物[edit]

据博雅地名网所载，余有江为十届省政协常委，曾任省城镇集体工业联合社主任；游有雄曾任厦门市政府副秘书长。[2]
