横塘村位于福建省莆田市荔城区黄石镇的西南部，南与笏石镇相接，西邻新度镇。明末官员朱继祚出生于此。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

相传隋唐时这一带还是海域，村民围海造田，因地势较高，又有壶山流下的水经过，最初取名横渠。后来十个姓氏陆续迁入定居，才改称横塘。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

宋元时期此地属感德乡莆田里，明清时期划入四区莆田里。民国时期属莆田县大横塘乡，1950年代起先后归莆田县第九区与第三区。1984年改为莆田县黄石镇横塘村，2002年以后作为荔城区黄石镇横塘村，设立横塘村委会。[4]

名胜古迹[edit]

西壶寺联络站旧址位于横塘村田下，1935年莆田党组织利用西壶寺（又称菩提寺）开展秘密活动，并在此设立联络站。到1949年2月，县委成员张坤率人在此驻扎，指挥平原和沿海一带的武装斗争。[5]

著名人物[edit]

朱继祚（1593年生），字立望，号胤岗，横塘村人，明末官员，明亡后抗清殉国。[6]
