东南村的名称是1959年设立大队时，从邻近两个村子的村名中各取一字拼合而成。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代此地属万安乡新丰里，有横塘、永仁两个境；明代归南上隅新丰里；清宣统二年（1910年）改隶新丰乡。[2]

1950年至1956年间先后属第一区、第十区和茶亭区的乡。1959年设东南大队，1961年归音西公社；1966年改隶城关公社，1978年又回到音西公社。1984年大队改为东南村委会，1990年改属音西镇，2005年隶属龙江街道。[2]

东南村于2021年11月获福建省爱卫办评定，列为「2021年福建省卫生村」；2024年12月，村庄被认定为「2024年度福州市绿盈乡村建设中级版村庄」。[1]
