大园村是福建省福州市罗源县中房镇下辖的行政村，位于镇的西南部，在顶旗山脉北麓，距镇政府约2公里。村中辖三溪、上紫洋两个自然村。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村子所在处原为一大片园地，村子建在这里，因此称为大园村。[1]

位置[edit]

村子西邻东山村，南以顶旗山脉与洪洋乡接壤，北面的馒头峰与寨头村相邻。[1]

历史人文[edit]

村中为陈氏一族聚居，始祖陈正挺自中房村迁入定居，已有两百多年的历史。[2]

据博雅地名网，清光绪年间村中出过翰林陈尚志。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时期村地属化二里；民国时期分属五区、二区，并在河洋乡之内。1950年村地先属二区上宅乡，1955年改属中房区。1958年撤区设社，原乡改为大队，隶属中房公社上宅大队。1961年恢复区级建制，又析出大园大队，仍归中房公社。1984年村委会成立，隶属中房乡。[1]

建筑[edit]

村中因建村时间较短，未留存古民居遗迹。村民住宅多为木瓦结构的两层楼房，屋宇依山势层层相叠。[2]

物产[edit]

村中山地多、平地少，林木以毛竹、松、杉和常绿阔叶树为主。辖村上紫洋境内有国营林场。村南的顶旗山脉蕴藏花岗岩石矿，是镇内石材业的主要原料产地。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2024年1月，村被命名为2023年福建省卫生村。[1]
