村名因两山夹峙、地势高峻而来。[1]

东侧挨着六锦村，西侧与雪峰、碾坑两村接界，南侧是东姚，北侧越过山岭与廷坪乡的尾桥、石坑相接。耕地1612亩，山地32006亩，全村面积41291亩。[1]
