历史沿革[edit]
1956年设东莺乡，1966年改为大队，1976年改为管理区，1999年设村委会，沿用至今。[1]
2012年成立了赤潭经济合作社，辖区河段的管理由村级河长负责。[3]
地理环境[edit]
村域总面积约12平方千米，全村耕地7500亩，山林1500亩，辖有11个村民小组。[1]
人口民族[edit]
博雅地名网所载2008年数据显示，全村总人口5290人，外来人口2413人，常住的为2877人。[1] 百度百科载，截至2024年，村内户籍人口超过3000人。[3]
经济[edit]
村民以发包山地、出租土地、耕山种果、开办沙场和出租商铺为主要收入，并发展特色农业；村集体的固定年收入超过60万元。[1]
村内的龙头山、打石山等镇级工业园区落户企业100多家。[1]
文化[edit]
东莺农民新村占地约9万平方米，内有村委会办公楼、学校、市场等，兼有商铺和住宅。[2]
2024年，村里展开人居环境整治，拆掉违章建筑一百余处。[3]
东莺村于2019年9月入选「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位。[1] 2026年3月，东莺村获认定为「百千万工程」第三批典型村镇。[1]
