地名由来[edit]
相传宋元时期畲族人聚居在这片盛产梅子的地方，称梅子畲，后简写为梅畲。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
梅石乡是1953年由梅岭、兴明和成文（斗米石）凑成的，翌年又拆为梅岭、兴明两片；到泗水公社成立（1961年），两片各成一个大队，梅畲、兴明。后来的建制是小乡、村民委员会、管理区，换了几轮，1999年归为村民委员会。梅岭与兴明的合并发生在2004年，合并后的名字就是梅畲。[1]

主要种水稻、茶叶，种油茶，出产的梅畲黄粄在当地有名；茶油、黄粄、凉粉是特色收入。上一年农村经济总收入925万元。[1]
荣誉[edit]
梅畲村的荣誉先后有：「第四批中国传统村落」（2016年12月）；广东省文化和旅游厅认定的首批「广东省文化和旅游特色村」（2019年9月）；农业农村部推介的「2019年中国美丽休闲乡村」（2019年11月）；列入首批国家森林乡村（2019年12月）；2020年8月，进入第二批全国乡村旅游重点村，同月以水稻入选广东省首批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村；2022年1月，广东省乡村振兴局把它定为乡村治理示范村创建单位（2021年度）；2026年3月，又被认定为「百千万工程」第三批典型村镇（广东省）。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
百度百科称，村里有一株观光木，已有五百多年树龄，高26米，胸径1.21米，据称是全国迄今所知最大的单株，列入县级保护名木。[2]
