据博雅地名网记载，村所在地势较高，从前叫湖輋。[1]

据博雅地名网村情（未注明年份），全村分14个村民小组，在册358户、1897人，总面积13平方公里，耕地约1100亩，主要作物是水稻，上一年农村经济总收入464万元。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网所载沿革：1929年江长荣出任第四区苏维埃政府主席，村中青年江举文、江火保等参加了湖乡赤卫队。1949年5月属泉砂乡，设湖华行政村，同年9月并入布美联合村；1950年5月属郭布乡，1953年10月属布美乡；1958年9月属油田公社，称湖华农业社；1961年6月设湖华大队，属郭田公社；1983年改设湖华乡，1987年改为湖华管理区，1999年设立湖华村委会，沿用至今。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2017年10月，省爱国卫生运动委员会评定湖华村为第一批广东省卫生村；2019年9月列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位；2020年8月入选首批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村，品种为红薯。[1]
