竹梅村隶属于广东省梅州市五华县潭下镇，在镇域南部。村下分13个村民小组，全村总面积11.3平方千米，耕地约692亩。[1]

关于村名，博雅地名网收录的说法是：竹梅起初是两个小村庄，以大坝里为中心，上村为竹子园，成片生长竹子；下村为杨梅坪，成片生长杨梅，合称竹梅。[1]
建制变化：解放初期属离粘锡乡，1953年改为乡，1958年撤乡改为大队，1976年至1985年属锡坪公社，1985年撤公社后改乡，1987年设管理区，1999年改为村委会。[1]
