金石村隶属于广东省梅州市五华县潭下镇，在镇域中西部。村下分12个村民小组，全村总面积2.4平方千米，耕地约798亩。[1]

关于村名，博雅地名网收录的说法是：据查，清代黄沙圹村口路两侧各有巨石，行人从中穿过，初名夹石，后“夹”字改作“金”字。[1]
建制变化：1949年称乡，1958年成立大队，1983年改称乡政府，1989年为管理区，1999年改称村委会。[1]
