据博雅地名网所载，明代有「西林夕照」的说法，村名由此而来。[1]
沿革与概况[edit]
1949年立西林乡，1958年起设西林大队，1983年改由乡政府管理，到1989年又改设管理区；1999年管理区撤销，建立西林村委会。[1]村辖30个村民小组，页面所载在册1545户、6238人，耕地2280亩，土地总面积5.3平方公里。[1]
