历史沿革[edit]
传说千年前这里是森林，一次地壳变动使高山下沉成大坑，称下坑；其后又几度变动，大坑被填平，成了今天的丘陵。[1]
清代属苏州巡检司，民国属七区乙乡；1952年划归一区石坝乡，1958年成立下坑大队，1983年设下坑乡，1999年起称下坑村民委员会。[1]
