历史沿革[edit]
据村里的说法，下马庄小组在明末曾有一位朝廷大官居住，其他官员到园山一带便下马步行，以示敬意，于是有了下马庄、上马庄之称，后来合称马庄[1]。
地理环境[edit]
村东接西枝江金山河老河道，南邻冷水坑村，西倚古塘坳，北靠麦地和苏屋墩[2]。
人口民族[edit]
全村设8个村民小组，即河一、河二、新一、新二、上一、上二、金山湖和下马庄。2010年，村里户籍人口2427人（623户），外来流动人口约8000人[2]。
经济[edit]
2010年，村集体经济收入达950万元，人均收入为10188元[2]。马庄村在2020年、2021年、2022年均列入阿里研究院等公布的淘宝村名单[1]。
