历史沿革[edit]
村名的来历：相传自古以来在此居住的人一向平安顺利，没有什么不幸的事，因此称平民。[1]
民国时期归函关管辖，辖区分作5、6、7三个堡，解放初期相应成为三个村。1953年设平民小乡，其后经初级社（1955年）、高级社（1957年）；1960年建平民公社，1962年改作平民大队。1983年建乡，随后几经易名：1987年成为村民委员会，1989年为管理区办事处，1999年重新定名平民村民委员会，沿用至今。[1]
经济[edit]
平民村地形为低丘陵，气候属南亚热带季风类型，年均气温约20至21度，年降雨量约2100毫米[1]。耕地3055亩，经济作物以木薯、三华李、大玉姜、龙眼为主[1]。
村情介绍称，全村有1500人外出到东莞等珠三角地区务工或在本地毛织厂就业，种植经济作物1500多亩。[2]
荣誉[edit]
- 2019年9月，列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
