临东村是湛江市麻章区湖光镇的行政村，与临西村曾合为临海乡，1986年分开设村。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1952年设临东乡，1958年改称临东大队；1983年临东、临西合并为临海乡；1986年两地分设村民委员会；1990年改称临东管理区；1999年改称临东村民委员会，沿用至今。[1]
- 2022年9月，认定为「2022年湛江市文明村」。[1]
