新民村是广东省江门市开平市长沙街道下辖的行政村，在街道西北边，北面是开平大道，辖东成、虾堆、苍一、苍二、门堆、新屋厦、田心七条自然村。[1]

村东邻西安村，南邻杜溪村，西邻爱民村，辖区约2200亩，农业人口1848人，耕地1000余亩，鱼塘150余亩。集体经济靠出租厂房和场地，年纯收入达100万元；党支部有党员41名。[1]
村里华侨、港澳同胞多，侨房和碉楼分布在各村，保存完好的有“益庵”“笔峰”两间古祠堂和一艘传统银龙古船。侨胞和乡亲出资兴建了杜澄小学和宗勲中学。[1]
村里设有卫生站，并按“三清理、三拆除、三整治”的部署整治农村人居环境。[1]
