历史沿革[edit]
南沙村在20世纪40年代属大鳌百顷联围，土地大多属邻近外海乡的地主所有，其中有外海士绅陈照薇，思想开明[2]。1944年，他出资办起百顷小学（今南沙小学），校内原供自住的桃荫别墅改作教工宿舍[2]。1948年7月起，共产党员邓强带领党员和进步青年以教师身份来校活动，开办农民识字班，当地逐渐形成革命据点[2]。
1949年7月，中共新会县委机关迁到百顷，陈照薇把桃荫别墅提供给地下组织使用[2]。同年10月1日，别墅前举行庆祝开国大典的集会和游行，约3000名军民到场；10月21日新会独立团在百顷成立，随即开赴江门，江门和新会两地在23日、24日获得解放[2]。
名胜古迹[edit]
别墅占地约一百多平方米，红瓦青砖，展出新会独立团的照片和战士用品，旁边立着名为“绣红旗”的雕塑[2]。别墅属江门市第六批市级文物保护单位，如今用作江门市的党史学习教育基地，也是新会区的爱国主义教育基地；据2024年的介绍，年均接待超过6000人次[1][2]。2021年镇里投入500多万元兴建了红色文化展馆[3]。
发展定位[edit]
大鳌镇在2023年的规划中，把南沙村定位为红色美丽示范村，另在镇东的乡村振兴示范带中建设南沙红旗公园[4]。
