龙头村是汕头市龙湖区龙华街道下辖的行政村，原属外砂镇，位于国道324线外砂路段旁，总面积0.68平方千米[1]。村名取自村北一座俗称“犁头桥”的三孔石桥。
历史沿革[edit]
据说村落始建于明嘉靖年间（1522年至1566年），由福建莆田乌衣巷一带的村民迁来[1]。明万历二十四年（1596年），澄海知县王嘉忠在村北修了一座三孔石桥，形似犁头尖，称犁头桥，方志中又写作“全济桥”，村子也因此叫“犁头”。后来横窖改称凤窖、沙尾改称凤美，犁头正好处在两村之间，便取“双凤戏龙珠”之意，改名龙头[2]。
人口与经济[edit]
概况页记载，全村人口近3032人，约610户，耕地约250亩，土壤为沙质。解放初期村民多以手工织席为生，龙头是外砂草席的主产地之一；后来毛织服装成为支柱产业，村里有近百家个体企业。村办的龙头幼儿园、龙头小学建于20世纪90年代初，由龙头、凤美两村的孩子就读；龙头农贸市场于2009年启用[1]。
