牛头洞村在乐昌市五山镇东南，离镇政府约10公里，东邻仁化县红山镇，辖9个自然村、13个村小组，249户、1331人（博雅地名网，未注明年份）。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
牛头洞的建制沿革：1958年设为大队，1983年设乡政府，1987年改设村委会，1989年称管理区，1998年恢复村委会，沿用至今。[1]

自然村有大洞、下洞子、雪坑、牛头洞、小洞、大竹坪等。据博雅地名网，村内有贫困户71户264人；收入靠外出务工、毛竹和林木、养殖，种植以蔬菜为主，养猪、鸡、牛。[1]
