坪田的建制沿革：1958年设为大队，1983年设乡政府，1987年改设村委会，1989年称管理区，1998年恢复村委会，沿用至今。^[1]

村小组有连家、刘家、黄家、上坪田、歧连、歧刘、歧张、寨头。村民以种稻为主，收入来自外出务工、毛竹和禽畜养殖。^[1]
