历史沿革[edit]
1958年为鹧鸪塘大队，1983年改设乡政府，1987年称村委会，1989年设管理区，1998年重设村委会，沿用至今。[1]
人口与经济[edit]
全村11个村民小组，642户、3313人，其中贫困户109户、391人；耕地1555亩，水田937亩，人均不足3分；2008年人均收入3374元。种水稻、玉米、红薯、蔬菜、花生和黄烟，养生猪、家禽。[1]（村情介绍未标年份，同文的人均收入为2008年数据）
名胜古迹[edit]
西京古道乐昌段的北端称鹧鸪塘古道，在梅花镇境内。古道精华段从梅花客运站出发，经洞背村进入鹧鸪塘古道，由北往南走到草鞋岭村。[2]
