西境村是广州市增城区小楼镇中部的行政村，与东境村原为一村，以种植增城菜心和黑皮冬瓜闻名，2013年被农业部认定为第三批全国一村一品示范村镇^[1]。

历史沿革与地名[edit]

元代，村民从今广州白云区九佛迁来建村，叫湴村。1957年成立人民公社时，村分为东西两部分，位于西部的称西境^[1]。1952年土改时为湴村小乡，1956年办成集锋高级社，1983年改为西境乡，1987年1月撤乡改村^[1]。

据博雅地名网所载，村面积3.7平方千米，耕地1618亩，辖5个经济合作社，320户1670人，参与小楼人家休闲度假旅游区建设^[1]。农业部在2013年7月公布的「第三批全国一村一品示范村镇」名单中有西境村（增城菜心）^[1]。

周志堂是西境村的农民，初中毕业于1980年，先去外面打工，攒下积蓄后回乡养鸡，又拿承包的责任田试种冬瓜，借上级部门的扶持引进良种、请专家讲课，学会了冬瓜栽培^[1]。
