南约村是广州市番禺区新造镇的行政村，村委会在镇政府对面，土地约2300亩，下辖8个村民小组，丘陵岗地。村名来历：它是礼园九坊中较大的一坊，原称大园坊，因在九坊之南，改称礼园南约，后简称南约。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村子建于宋代，称南约村，沿用至今；1987年设立南约村民委员会。[1]
经济[edit]
村里利用丘陵山岗的地势，逐步形成山上种果树和蔬菜、鱼场养鱼、塘基养家禽的发展方式。[1]按百度百科的说法，2008年村里常住人口1448人，建有商铺42间以及玩具厂、服装厂等企业，广州地铁4号线新造站的出口也在村内。[2]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月，南约村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2025年12月入选「2025年番禺区充分就业社区（村）」名单，2026年1月又入选「2025年广州市充分就业社区（村）」名单。[1]
