左边村隶属广州市番禺区东环街道，是个行政村，紧靠市广路，是东环街最偏西的行政村。村子建于南宋建炎元年（1127年），因左姓人口最多而得名。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

建炎元年建村，早期有左、苏、黎等姓聚居，左姓人数最多，便以「左边」为村名，「边」指所在之地。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

博雅地名网记村域占地0.96公顷、总人口1200多人，百度百科的数字是面积约0.62平方千米、548户，户籍人口1603人（含股东1226人），另有来穗人员7000人；两处出入较大。[1][2] 旧工业园经过改造，建成了产业园区和珠宝城。2024年，村集体的总收入是4415万元，分到每位股东手上将近2万元。[2]

村内有东、西两个公园，以及左边小学、左边幼儿园、农贸市场和老人活动中心。[1][2] 左边村在2019年入选广东省卫生村，同年入选广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位。[1]
