甘棠村是广州市番禺区东环街道下辖的行政村，在番禺大道旁，下辖4个村民小组。村子始建于北宋末年，村名借用了召伯在甘棠树下理政的典故。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

建村之前，当地已有一座供奉康公的古庙。村民借「召伯循行南国，或舍甘棠之下，后人思其德而爱其树」的故事为村命名。[1] 建村在北宋末年。行政上先属沙头镇（1987年成立村委会），1992年转到市桥镇，到2001年再划归东环街道。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

村域面积约0.45平方千米，登记户籍的928人，流动人口三千多；[1] 百度百科则称实有人口近7000人。[2] 20世纪80年代末90年代初，村里大量土地被征用，此后村民的收入主要来自出租屋和村集体分配。[1] 2021年和2022年，甘棠村连续进入淘宝村名单。[1]

文化[edit]

村内保存有苏氏宗祠、陈氏宗祠，并建有「另一个美术馆」和多个文化体育公园。2023年，村里获得广州市健康社区（村）的命名，也在广州市首批儿童友好试点社区（村）之列。[2]
