太平街道是广东省潮州市湘桥区下辖的街道，因辖区内有纵贯市区南北的太平路而得名。2021年3月，经潮州市人民政府批准，湘桥、西湖、金山、旧太平四个街道合并为一个新的太平街道。[1][2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

1927年，这里先设仁贤、长养、生融、聚英四坊，几经分合，1945年合称长仁镇；1946年起分属潮安县在城镇的第十九至廿九保。[3]

1950年辖区属潮安县城关镇，1953年7月改为潮州市第四办事处。1955年定名为潮州市太平街道，其后曾改为人民公社的太平管理区，1965年又改称潮州镇太平街道。1984年4月，名称改为潮州市太平街道；1992年，湘桥区设立后，它成为湘桥区的太平街道。[3]

街道沿革页记2021年3月的合并，博雅地名网的社区页则写作2021年5月起归入新设的太平街道，两说不一致，本条目取前者。[2][3][8]

博雅地名网据第七次全国人口普查称，街道人口约1.2万人，在湘桥区各街道乡镇中排第9位。[2] 维基百科信息框另列为16,970人，未注明年份。[1] 两个数字相差较大，本条目两说并存，注明出处。

维基百科信息框记6个社区，正文列出下东平路、下西平路、砖亭巷、义兴、南门五个社区。[1] 博雅地名网页列有9个社区。[2] 2024年，湘桥区以太平街道为试点推进社区居委会撤并，把街道的19个社区精简为9个。[7] 数据库所列19个社区，与撤并前的数目相同。

名胜古迹[edit]

柯柏年故居在上西平路刘察巷15号，是一座潮州传统的「四点金」格局住宅，原为李氏家族的居所，走出了李春涛、柯柏年等五位革命志士。[5][6] 据百度百科，它在2022年7月被列为第十批广东省文物保护单位。[5]

2019年12月，街道内50处建筑被认定为「潮州市第三批历史建筑」，博雅地名网列出了全部名单。甲第巷有9处，家伙巷8处，灶巷7处，其余分布在兴宁巷、德兴里、郑厝巷等处。[4]

博雅地名网还提到，街道内文化底蕴较深的园林名胜与历史遗迹共14处，例如黄宅庭园、吴家宅院、城南书院、叩齿庵。[9]
