江边村位于企石镇中部，北面临东江，南面靠东江支流石马河，距东莞市区约28公里。村名的来历与这一位置有关。[1][2]

村里保留有明清古建筑群、黄氏宗祠和万福庵贝丘遗址，被视为珠江三角洲保存较完整的古村之一。江边村在2012年5月被认定为第三批广东省历史文化名镇名村，同年12月列入第一批中国传统村落名录，2013年晋升「中国景观村落」。[1][2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

据《江边黄氏族谱》，黄姓先人曾从南雄珠玑巷迁至企石，南宋时期黄云萝在此落户。1311年，他的第七代孙黄月聪迁居江边新围，新围此后约在明代嘉靖年间成村。[2]

民国时期，江边是企石一带较富裕的村落。文革期间，村里古建筑的构件与工艺品多有损毁，村民设法保护，建筑外观与结构大体保留下来。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

江边黄氏宗祠建于明代中期，占地654平方米，据称兴建于1522年至1560年间，被列为市级文物保护单位。村中另有泝川、一江、隐斋、经国、乐沼、冠堂等公祠以及宜生家塾，多为两进三开的小庭院布局。[1][2]

万福庵贝丘遗址在村子西面，属新石器时代中期，距今五千至六千年，1961年发现，2004年1月8日公布为「市、县级文物保护单位」。[4]

经济[edit]

村域约四平方千米，内有三个自然村，人口共2964人，工厂约30家。村内有树龄三百年以上的古榕树六棵，百年以上的荔枝树约一千棵。[1]
