太平村位于福堂镇西南面，距镇政府驻地约3公里，北面与镇政府所在地接壤。[1] 村名因辖区内一处大鱼塘「太坪塘」而得。[3] 村内人口1532人，少数民族占九成左右，以李、莫两姓为主。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

这里最早于1952年9月设太平乡，1958年10月起称大队，1983年11月又成为乡，1989年8月改为管理区，1999年定名太平村委会，沿用至今。[1][2]

人口与产业[edit]

村委会下辖12个村民小组。[1] 耕地1502亩，其中水稻等粮食作物播种面积991亩，山林面积5000亩。[1] 农业是村中的支柱，村民以种稻为主业，副业上传统养鱼、养鸭、养鸡、养猪，并生产木材。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2020年12月，「第一批广东省少数民族特色村寨」名单公布，太平村位列其中。[1] 2022年1月，太平村被纳入「2021年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建名单，由省乡村振兴部门确定。[1] 2023年5月，广东省爱卫会授予东联、山华、金龟、贤马良四村「2022年广东省卫生村」称号。[1] 2026年1月，太平村获评「广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村」。[1]
