初级社时期，该辖区位于西社乡的南部，村名由此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

南社一带1953年属南社乡，1958年分出大队；1983年仍设乡，1986年改称村委会；1989年曾设管理区，1999年恢复为村委会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年12月，广东省爱卫会授予本村「2021年广东省卫生村」荣誉称号。2026年1月，本村获评「广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村」称号。[1]
