地名由来[edit]

初级社时期，此地位于沙河乡的西部，村名由此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1953年设西社乡，1958年组建西社大队，1983年设乡政府，1986年改为西社村委会，1989年实行管理区体制，1999年恢复村委会建制，沿用至今。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年12月，广东省爱卫会授予本村「2021年广东省卫生村」荣誉称号。2023年4月，「2022年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位名单公布，本村在列。2026年1月，本村获评「广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村」称号。[1]
