历史沿革[edit]
在设立居民委员会之前，这一带归沙河镇的「龙洞第一居民委员会」管；撤镇设街（2002年）之后，居委会于2003年12月组建，沿用至今[1]。2025年5月，天河区政府批复把西社、南社两个社区“二分为三”，增设龙湖社区，调整后的西社社区辖区面积约0.22平方千米，社区规模为4001户以上[2]。
名胜古迹[edit]
许应鑅墓坐落在西社社区辖内的龙洞村，广州市人民政府在2002年7月将其列入市文物保护单位，属第六批[1]。
荣誉[edit]
社区获评「广州市2021年绿色社区」（市住房和城乡建设局2021年11月确定），并于2024年11月入选「2024年广州市充分就业社区（村）」[1]。
