太平镇是广东省清远市清新区下辖的八个建制镇之一，全镇辖一个社区和二十二个行政村。[1][2]据博雅地名网，全镇面积约208平方千米，第七次全国人口普查结果为5.69万人，在清新区各镇中排第三位。[2]镇名来自明代迁圩求平安的传说，2002年秦皇镇撤销后，其辖区并入太平镇。[3]

历史沿革[edit]

博雅地名网记此地旧称莲塘圩。传说明嘉靖元年（1522年）地面下沉，圩镇迁往龙船岗头重建，人们盼望平安，遂改称太平。[2]

1950年5月，太平属清远县第四区。1957年撤区建太平乡，1958年改为太平公社，1986年12月撤区建镇，镇政府驻太平圩。[3]1988年6月，太平划归清城区；1989年1月市里决定划回清郊区，同年11月省民政厅批复。[5]1992年清郊区撤区建清新县，太平镇随之属清新县；2012年清新县撤销，设立清新区。[1][3]2002年5月，秦皇镇并入太平镇。[3][5]

2001年，镇获「市文明小康镇」称号；2004年，获「市计划生育优质服务先进镇」；2005年，获「广东省文明镇」。[4]2023年11月入选广东「百千万工程」首批典型县镇村，2025年8月入选广东省第三批「百千万工程」专业镇建设名单，2026年5月，又被选入省里首批现代化中心镇之列。[2]

博雅地名网的镇概况多引2006年前后的材料，称镇内建有太平工业园，另有马岳、龙湾、盈富三个工业区，制鞋、建材、机械、服装、电子等行业有企业聚集。[4]农业方面，概况提出以猪、禽、水稻、水产和水果为重点的布局，并在山边与清四公路沿线发展水果和绿化带。[4]

2026年9月29日至30日，镇人代会于当月召开第十八届首次会议，大会审议通过的政府工作报告提出，「十五五」期间规上工业产值力争突破140亿元、年均增长5%以上，并把加快建设工业强镇列在今后五年发展七个方面的首位。[6]

文化[edit]

镇内的石桥古村始建于民国十三年（1924年），具有民国时期粤民居的风格，村落布局整齐。[2]太平镇相关名人中，陈可钰（1882—1944）为民国时期军事将领，1921年任粤军第一师参谋长，1926年任国民革命军第四军副军长，博雅地名网载其故居在太平镇。[2][7]
