莲花村位于阳西县程村镇，村委会驻地旧时有莲花生长，此外还有一座莲花庙，村名由此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年11月设莲花行政村，归阳江县六区；1953年设莲花乡，隶阳江十二区。1956年划入程村区，1958年5月隶属程村乡，1958年11月并入大跃进人民公社，1959年起设莲花生产大队，10月起改归程村人民公社。[2]

1967年起设莲花革命委员会，1980年改称莲花生产队管委会，1983年春又设莲花乡。1987年2月组建莲花村委会，1988年归阳西县程村镇，1989年9月改称莲花管理区，1999年9月恢复莲花村委会。[2]

经济[edit]

2020年8月，莲花村在首批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村之列，产品是牛大力，名单由广东省农业农村厅发布。[1]

文化[edit]

2026年3月，莲花村被认定为「广东省第三批百千万工程典型村镇」。2023年4月，莲花村在2022年度乡村治理示范村创建名单之列。2021年12月，周新村被定为2021年度「阳江市卫生村」。2019年9月，莲花村列入2018年「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建名单。[1]
