北桂村是阳东区新洲镇下辖的行政村[1]。

据博雅地名网，咸丰年间（1851年至1861年）有人迁离此地，将房地转给赵姓兄弟，由此立村，取名北桂。1951年设北桂乡，1959年划入新洲公社，1987年改设北桂管理区，1999年设立北桂村委会[1]。

村中的永昌堂位于北桂村东南部，建于1939年，属第三批阳江市文物保护单位[1][2]。

2019年9月，该村列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单[1]。
