城南社区是元善镇下辖的社区，属镇中心区，辖区包括老城和新城两部分。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

因社区处在县城南部，故以城南为名，辖区分老城、新城两块。[1]

1950年至1960年间，新民村与宇群村合并为新宇村；1966年先称元二大队，文革开始后改称群新大队。改革开放后，群新大队分设城东管理区办事处和城南管理区办事处，之后改为城南村民委员会，2000年起称城南居委会。[1]
