大新村在东坑镇以北，离镇政府约8公里，是镇上青梅的主产村之一，也有“商场村”之称。[1][2] 2026年1月，大新村成为广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

建国初期此地属大溪乡，1973年为大溪大队；次年老大溪分成三个大队，这里成了大新大队，1976年改乡，1984年3月起设乡政府，1986年设村民委员会，1990年为管理区，1999年定下现名。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

版图8平方千米，耕地50.7公顷；6个村民小组共495户、2726人，果树种植约2500亩。[1][2] 每年外出打工经商的村民600多人，合计年收入500多万元，故称“商场村”；2009年人均纯收入4449元。[2]

荣誉与古迹[edit]

2020年8月，大新村以蜜柚入选首批广东省“一村一品、一镇一业”专业村；2022年1月，被广东省乡村振兴局列为乡村治理示范村创建单位（2021年度）。[1] 墩下自然村有大溪輋天主教堂，县的资料称教堂建于1852年，为粤东较早的天主教堂，2016年起重建。[3]
