护东村在上护镇中东部，与护北村相邻；自然村有7个，龙江、旱窝、岭下、新丰四处之外，还有马安、马石、洋角。[1] “陆河八景”之一的燕子岩（紫燕衔花）就在村内。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

此地建国后属护北生产大队；1978年另定为护东管辖区，其名称才开始使用；1999年，管辖区改称护东村民委员会。[2]

地理与人口[edit]

村域面积7平方千米，6000亩为山地，1080亩为耕地。镇政府给出的人口是2804人、498户，常住1696人、外出1108人；博雅地名网另记总人口2656人。[1][2]

经济与荣誉[edit]

农产品以香蕉、菠萝见长，护东香蕉被当作村的品牌。[1][2] 村在2019年10月入选广东省卫生村名录，2026年1月又列入「广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村」。[2]
