历史沿革[edit]
此地建国后属护北生产大队；1978年另定为护东管辖区，其名称才开始使用；1999年，管辖区改称护东村民委员会。[2]
地理与人口[edit]
村域面积7平方千米，6000亩为山地，1080亩为耕地。镇政府给出的人口是2804人、498户，常住1696人、外出1108人；博雅地名网另记总人口2656人。[1][2]
经济与荣誉[edit]
农产品以香蕉、菠萝见长，护东香蕉被当作村的品牌。[1][2] 村在2019年10月入选广东省卫生村名录，2026年1月又列入「广东省第二批“百千万工程”典型村」。[2]
名胜[edit]
燕子岩有山有水，有林、泉、岩石，景名紫燕衔花，位列陆河八景。[1]
