历史沿革[edit]
新中国成立后，这里属河田区的上护乡；1958年人民公社化，设了护北大队。1974年护东、大角两个大队从中分出，1999年起称护北村委会。[2]
地理与人口[edit]
村域7.6平方千米，其中山地7800亩，耕地1360亩；530多户，约3200人。村里有生态林700亩；新田河的两条支流（牛伯公水、十三磜水）从村中流过。[1] 博雅地名网较早的一段介绍写的是458户、2600人，并称护北是镇里新农村建设的四个先行点之一。[2]
经济与荣誉[edit]
种植基地有油茶、火龙果、牛大力。[1] 2019年，村获「广东省卫生村」称号，同年入围2018年度「广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建名单。[1][2]
