下可塘村在可塘镇城乡结合部，北邻可塘墟，辖下可塘、下围、坑美三个自然村，沿省道241线分布。[1]

据博雅地名网，该村南宋绍兴年间立村，因在可塘圩集之中而叫可塘乡，后来可塘乡扩大，分出北面的上可塘和南面的下可塘。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1952年归九区可塘乡，1958年在可塘公社的可塘大队之内，1974年单设下可塘大队；1987年成村委会，1989年称管理区办事处，1998年恢复村委会。[1]

人口与经济[edit]

下可塘村居民有章、叶、蔡三姓，下围有章、林两姓，坑美村俗称坑尾，姓吴。村里有几十家家庭式宝石加工厂，耕地约1021亩，多为山田，旅港乡亲约千人。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

百度百科称红四师党代会旧址在下可塘村境内，原是文祠。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2024年3月获2023年度广东省卫生村的命名，2026年1月又被评为广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村。[1]
